One of the highlights of the Swim Safe Europe Conference 2026 will be the opportunity to learn directly from national federations and organisations that are delivering successful aquatic education and water safety programmes across Europe.
Taking place on 7–8 August in Paris, the conference will feature presentations and case studies from a diverse group of countries, showcasing innovative approaches to Learn to Swim, aquatic literacy, coach education and drowning prevention.
Representatives from the Flemish Swimming Federation, Swim England, LTU Aquatics, the Aquatic Sport Association of Malta, the Hungarian Swimming Federation, Austrian Swimming Federation, Croatian Swimming Federation, Estonian Swimming Federation and Bulgarian Swimming Federation will share experiences from their respective national programmes.
While each country faces its own unique challenges, all have developed initiatives designed to increase participation in aquatic activities, improve swimming skills and create safer environments in and around the water.
The conference will provide participants with practical examples of how different organisations have approached issues such as:
- Expanding access to swimming lessons;
- Increasing aquatic literacy among children and adults;
- Supporting coach and teacher education;
- Developing sustainable Learn to Swim pathways;
- Strengthening partnerships with schools and local authorities;
- Promoting water safety awareness and drowning prevention.
By bringing together these success stories from across the continent, European Aquatics aims to encourage the exchange of ideas and inspire new solutions that can be adapted and implemented in different national contexts.
The sessions will also provide an opportunity for participants to discuss common challenges, compare approaches and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
As part of the Swim Safe Europe initiative, European Aquatics continues to support the sharing of knowledge and best practices among its Member Federations, recognising that cooperation and education are essential tools in reducing drowning rates and increasing participation in aquatic sports.
The Paris conference will therefore not only be a platform for discussion, but also a showcase of practical projects already delivering positive results in communities across Europe.
Through these presentations, attendees will gain valuable insights into programmes that are helping more people learn essential aquatic skills, stay safe in the water and enjoy the lifelong benefits of aquatic activity.
Registrations are now open through the European Aquatics Academy platform, and interested participants are encouraged to secure their place early.
