Olympic silver medallist Kristóf Rasovszky will headline a star-studded field for Leg 3 of the 2023 LEN Open Water Cup, in Belgrade on 17 June.
The 10km races in the Serbian capital represent the last opportunity for those competing at this summer’s World Aquatics Championships to rival on high-class opponents before taking to the waters in Japan next month.
Rasovszky will be looking for a strong result after being forced to withdraw from the season-opening event in Eilat, Israel, following a blow to the face during the race.
The Hungarian will be joined in Belgrade by training partner and 2022 World Junior champion David Betlehem, with Italian major medallist Dario Verani also using the competition as part of his bulid-up to the World Championships, Fukuoka 2023.
On the women’s side another Hungarian – and reigning World Junior Open Water champion – Bettina Fabian will be seeking her second podium finish of the LEN Open Water Cup season after claiming bronze at the first leg in Eilat, Israel.
World and European champion Leah Boy of Germany is likely to be a further leading contender for victory in the women’s race, which also features former World medallists Eva Fabian of Israel and French swimmer Lara Grangeon.
In addition to athletes from the host nation, Serbia, the women’s and men’s field will also feature swimmers from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Great Britain, Greece, North Macedonia and Slovenia.
