Luxembourg’s Centre National Sportif Et Culturel (La Coque) is gearing up to host four days of non-stop artistic swimming action as the European Aquatics Youth Artistic Swimming Championships gets underway.
196 athletes representing 28 nations will gather for the competition, one of the most important milestones on the European artistic swimming calendar for the sport’s emerging stars.
The competition will feature a packed programme of events across solo, duet, mixed duet, team and free combination disciplines, alongside the youth-focused figures competition. For many athletes, Luxembourg will provide an opportunity to build on performances delivered at national championships and international youth events over the past year, while for others it will mark their first appearance at a major international competition.
The action begins on Thursday with the women’s solo preliminary and team free preliminary. The opening day will offer an early indication of which nations and athletes have polished their routines, and athletes and officials will also take part in the Opening Ceremony, officially launching four days of competition in front of the Luxembourg crowd.
Attention then turns to the duet specialists on Friday as the duet free preliminary takes centre stage. The afternoon session is reserved for the figures event, a cornerstone of youth artistic swimming that places the spotlight firmly on technical execution, body control and precision. While routine performances often capture the imagination of spectators, the figures competition remains a crucial measure of the athletes’ fundamental skills as they make the transition to senior level.
Saturday sees the race for medals intensify as the first European titles are awarded. The mixed duet final and the women’s solo final headline the morning programme before the team free final brings together the continent’s strongest squads later in the day.
The Championships conclude on Sunday with the duet free and men’s solo finals crowning the continent’s leading performers before the spectacular free combination final closes the event. Renowned for its fast-paced choreography, the finale event provides a fitting end to what will be a memorable competition.
Beyond the competition itself, Luxembourg also hosted a successful coaches clinic on Wednesday, focusing on barracudas and active flexibility in the water, underlining European Aquatics’ commitment to athlete and coach development alongside elite competition.
Teams have been training at La Coque since the beginning of the week, making use of the venue’s extensive facilities ahead of the first routines on Thursday.
