European Aquatics has published the official Information Bulletin for the Elite Coach Conference – Swimming 2026, with registrations now open for the event, which will take place on 18–19 September in Maia, Portugal.

Organised as part of the European Aquatics education programme, the conference will bring together coaches, athletes, officials, managers and other members of the aquatic community for two days of learning, professional development and networking. Attendance also contributes to the renewal of the European Aquatics Coach Certification through the mandatory education units required for certified coaches.

Hosted at the University of Maia, the conference will feature presentations from internationally recognised experts in high-performance coaching, sport psychology, environmental physiology and talent development. Confirmed speakers include Kim Dietrichsen (Denmark), Ana Sousa (Portugal), Aylin Post (The Netherlands) and Frédéric Vergnoux (France), alongside oral presentations showcasing the latest research in swimming.
The programme combines keynote presentations, research sessions, networking opportunities and an EA Innovation Hub session, providing participants with practical insights and the opportunity to exchange knowledge with leading experts and fellow coaches from across Europe.

The Information Bulletin also includes practical information on registration, accommodation, travel arrangements and the official conference schedule. Participants can choose to attend either in person or online through the EA Academy platform. Registration is open until 11 September 2026.

In addition, European Aquatics has opened a call for abstracts, inviting universities, research institutions, National Federations and educational organisations to present scientific research and applied practice related to swimming and aquatics. Abstract submissions are open until 14 August 2026, with accepted papers to be published in a special edition of the Motricidade journal.
