As usual before the start of the European club season, a water polo clinic was held for the referees and delegates to refresh their knowledge, go through all the recommendations and novelties. With 61 people on site in Zagreb, and further 179 online, the event brought record attendance. The clinic also served as a fine base to see further improvement in the level of officiating in the coming season.

After the welcome words from European Aquatics First Vice-President Josip Varvodic, the attendees could listen to a brief introduction on the new structure of officials overseeing EA water polo competitions. The new chair of the Technical Water Polo Committee, the two-time Olympic champion legend Perica Bukic and the chair of the newly formed Delegates and Referees Commission Andy Hopelman outlined the responsibilities and tasks of the respective bodies.

The following lectures offered a thorough overview of several interesting topics, including the roles and responsibilities of the delegates, the relations between the delegates and the referees and the evaluation criteria. EA Manager for WP Tehnical Officials Dejan Perisic and renowned ref Boris Margeta took the floor to present these points.

The second day was devoted to the rules of the game and their implementations. There were some highlighted areas where indepth-look and explanation was offered by Andy Hoepelman, Boris Margeta and WA TWPC Secretary Stavroula Kozompoli. Mr Hoepelman also held a brief overview on how to use the VAR.

As usual, on the third day, delegates and referees had to do an online test, followed by a discussion before the closure of the event.
