First EA Next Wave Artistic Swimming Development Camp offers young athletes and coaches Olympic facilities in Samorin – register now!

Young athletes are invited to develop their skills at the first European Aquatics Next Wave Artistic Swimming Development Camp, which will take place in the Olympic-level facility at Samorin from November 2 to 6.

Male and female athletes aged 10 to 15 from beginner to intermediate level will benefit from the international experience of world class former athletes and coaches at the superbly equipped X-Bionic Sphere, which is Slovakia’s main Olympic training centre.

Coaches accompanying their athletes as part of national federation delegations are also welcome to attend as observers, gaining insights and new ideas to support their own coaching practice.

They will have the opportunity of partaking in the dedicated practical session for the Artistic Swimming Coaches Course Level 1, which will run concurrently with the Development Camp in Samorin from November 3 to 5.

Coaches will also be able to observe training sessions, exchange experiences and gain practical insights from experienced European Artistic Swimming coaches

An accompanying information bulletin – see below – offers a guide to registration, with final entries being due by October 9.

The Camp focus will be on athlete technical development, creative learning and practical coach observation during new figure work across five days in an inclusive environment.

The course will be undertaken by five principal coaches and experts:

Hannah Preca Trapani, whose main areas of interest include long-term athlete development and athlete wellbeing

Irene Toledano, whose specialities include technical analysis, body awareness and effective supports

Leilani Torres, whose roster includes breaking complex skills into progressive learning steps and overseeing coach education

Renaud Barral, a member of the EA Athletes Committee who pioneered men’s artistic swimming for Belgium in competing with distinction at European and world level. His key areas include athlete advocacy and mental health, and the psychology of sport and performance

Ulla Lucenius, who has had more than four decades of experience in European and international artistic swimming technical governance, whose areas of expertise included judging and refereeing, AS rules and coach and official education
