Angharad Evans earned the home nation’s second swimming gold on day three at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as she won the 100m breaststroke.

Two days after Duncan Scott had secured his opening night victory in the 200m individual medley Evans clocked 1:06.07 to ensure another airing for Flower of Scotland at the Tollcross International Pool.

England’s Oliver Morgan and Luke Greenbank earned respective silver and bronze in a men’s 200m backstroke won in 1:54.22 by South Africa’s Pieter Coetze – his second Games record in Glasgow.

Morgan, who followed Coetze home in the 50m backstroke, placed second in 1:56.44 with Greenbank clocking 1:56.58.

England’s men earned another silver in the 4x200m freestyle as they clocked 7:04.98 behind the Games record of 7:01.47 set by the Australian quartet. Wales earned bronze in 7:09.59.

In women’s para-swimming England’s double Paris 2024 champion Alice Tai won the 100m backstroke S9 in a Games record of 1:11.93, with Gemma Sellick of Australia taking silver in 1:14.06.

It was Tai’s third Commonwealth gold following her successes on the Gold Coast in 2018 and in Birmingham four years ago.

In men’s para-swimming, Northern Ireland’s Barry McClements claimed 100m backstroke S9 silver in 1:03.68 behind Australia’s Timothy Hodge on 1:03.00.

The next stop for leading home nations swimmers in Glasgow will be the European Aquatics Championships Paris 2026, where swimming runs from August 10 to 16.
