Draws for the Qualification Rounds in the Champions League Men and Women and the Euro Cup Men.
This season the qualification pathways are slightly different than in the previous one. Ten clubs enjoy wild card seeding in the Champions League Men: FTC-Telekom, CNAB, Recco, Olympiacos, Marseille, Mladost, Radnicki, Waspo, Herceg Novi and Steaua. The remaining six spots are up for grabs in the qualification round which should see a series of fierce matches. In Group A, only two of the three usual CL participants, Novi Beograd, Oradea and Spandau, will reach the main stage. The battles of Jadran, Honved and Panathinaikos for the two qualifying spots also promise sheer excitements in Group C.
Five clubs will not survive this round, they will play in the Euro Cup Group Stage, while the remaining 11 spots are to be filled by the advancing sides from the QR. The top two from each of the five groups will qualify, and the third placed side from Group C (which is the only group of five) shall advance too.
As for the Champions League Women, eight teams have dedicated spot in the Group Stage. They are Olympiacos, St Andreu, Mataro, FTC-Telekom, Vouliagmeni, Orizzonte, Roma and BVSC. The other eight are coming from the Qualification Round, the top two from each group.
Just like in the men’s competition, the six club not making the cut will continue in the Euro Cup Group Stage, where three clubs already have a secured spot – Alimos, Padova and CNAB. From the EC Women Qualification Round only teams finishing atop in the three respective groups will qualify, the rest can play in the Conference Cup Qualification Round II.
Champions League Men qualification kicks off on 18 September, while the other competitions are scheduled for October.
