European Aquatics is delighted to unveil more details of the programme at the Coaches Clinics for High Performance Swimming in Vienna from 9-10 September 2024.
European Aquatics Coaches Clinics for High Performance Swimming: Strategies for Excellence in Coaching will be held at the University of Vienna.
Andi Manley (UK), Rob Greenwood (ESP), Marek Polach (CZE), James Gibson (UK) and Jon Rudd (IRL) will all deliver hour-long sessions at the event in the Austrian capital in September.
Between them, the quintet has guided swimmers to the top of the Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth podiums.
Manley will get the sessions underway at 1500 on Friday 9 September with a discussion on “World-Class Distance Coaching”.
That will be followed by Greenwood and a session titled “Use of Smart Data to Inform Smart Coaching” at 1630, immediately followed at 1730 with coach and performance analyst Polach concluding the first day with a seminar called “Combination of Practical-Scientific Approach to Swimming: From the General to the Specific.”
Gibson will get day two underway at 9am with a session on “Integrating Swimming Resistance & Power Training into Traditional Training Methods” with Rudd concluding the weekend with a session on “Operating in the High-Performance Arena.”
Registration is 100 euros with European Aquatics waiving the fee for the first 50 participants of European Aquatics federation countries with a maximum of one person per federation.
The event is organised by the Austrian Swimming Federation (OSV) in cooperation with European Aquatics and supported by World Aquatics (Aqua), as well as the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports of the University of Vienna.
This new initiative follows on from the coaches’ clinics conducted by the Coaching and Education Commission of European Aquatics in 2023, which were set up in close cooperation with the Aqua Development Programme.
It is also the first concrete action of the new European Aquatics Academy, which was approved in March as a key part of the European Aquatics Strategy 2024-2030 – (Pillar 1 (“Promoting all Aquatic Disciplines”).
