European Aquatics has just been informed that, despite recent water quality tests confirming that the River Seine meets the required standards for competition, a small amount of oil/fuel has been visually identified near the competition area. The relevant authorities are currently carrying out clean-up operations and, as a precautionary measure, today’s scheduled open water swimming training session has been cancelled.

European Aquatics will conduct a further water quality test before the next competition to ensure that all conditions continue to meet the required standards. The health, safety and welfare of athletes will always remain the highest priority in the organisation of European Aquatics competitions.
