European Aquatics is taking another major step forward in its commitment to inclusion, placing Para aquatic sports at the heart of its future development across Europe.
As part of this vision, inclusion is becoming an increasingly important part of the European Aquatics strategy, with new initiatives and opportunities being introduced across its competitions and programmes.

One of the biggest milestones will come at the European Championships in Paris 2026, where Para swimming events will be included for the first time. Athletes with disabilities will also continue to play a key role in the European Aquatics Masters Championships.
In another historic first, European Aquatics has approved new Para sport regulations that go beyond Para swimming to include Para artistic swimming, Para open water swimming, and Para water polo. The regulations were developed together with specialist organisations and stakeholders to ensure alignment with international Para sport standards.

European Aquatics is also continuing its strong collaboration with key international partners including the International Paralympic Committee, World Para Swimming, and Special Olympics. These partnerships are helping to drive the development of Para aquatic sports through shared expertise, high performance standards, and sustainable growth initiatives.
Beyond the competition, European Aquatics is investing in a wider culture of inclusion through education programmes, classification development, inclusive governance, and stronger participation pathways. The organisation is also encouraging greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing between National Federations, Para sport organisations, athletes, coaches, and institutional partners.
With this approach, we aim to build a more accessible, inclusive, and socially impactful future for aquatic sports across Europe, while creating clear development pathways for the next generation of Para athletes.
