European Aquatics launches landmark sustainability partnership with Lokang

European Aquatics is proud to announce a new partnership with Lokang, which becomes the organisation’s first official partner dedicated specifically to sustainability, social responsibility and drowning prevention initiatives.

The partnership was launched in Malta during the European Aquatics Water Polo Champions League Final Four events for men and women and represents an important step in delivering the objectives of the European Aquatics Strategic Plan 2024-2030. It is also the first partnership established under the framework of the European Aquatics Sustainability Charter.

Under the agreement, Lokang will become Official Partner of the European Aquatics Sustainability Charter, Official Partner for Energy Storage & Sustainability Solutions, and Official Partner for Drowning Prevention Systems. The collaboration will support key European Aquatics initiatives, including Swim Safe Europe and Learn to Swim programmes, helping to promote water safety, drowning prevention and sustainable practices across the aquatic community.

Lokang Sport, founded in Guangdong, China specialises in innovative sustainability technologies, including energy storage solutions and drowning prevention systems. Through this partnership, the company will work with European Aquatics to support environmental responsibility, improve water safety and help deliver practical solutions that create positive social impact throughout Europe. At the heart of the project is the advanced Integrated Microgrid Solution, which combines solar power generation, wind energy, battery energy storage, diesel backup generation and a sophisticated Energy Management System (EMS) into a single intelligent platform. The solution is designed to deliver reliable, efficient and sustainable energy by optimising power generation and consumption in real time, reducing dependence on conventional energy sources while ensuring uninterrupted operations. Lokang’s microgrid system provides a scalable and resilient energy solution capable of supporting major sports facilities, events and community infrastructure projects in a wide range of environments.

European Aquatics President António Silva welcomed the agreement:

“This partnership marks an important step forward for European Aquatics and reflects the ambitions set out in our Strategic Plan 2024-2030. We are proud to welcome Lokang as our first dedicated sustainability and social responsibility partner. Together, we will work to advance initiatives that improve water safety, support environmental sustainability and create long-term positive impact across the European aquatic community. It is particularly fitting that we launch this partnership in Malta during one of our flagship events, demonstrating that sport can be a powerful platform for innovation and social progress.”

Chairman of Lokang Sports Yu Dehui said:

“As a company focused on innovative sustainability technologies and life-saving solutions, Lokang is deeply honored to become European Aquatics’ official partner for sustainability and drowning prevention. This strategic collaboration aligns closely with our development vision. We bring professional integrated microgrid solutions powered by solar and wind energy, energy storage and safety systems to support the Swim Safe Europe and Learn to Swim programmes. Together with European Aquatics, we will drive green development for the aquatic industry, raise water safety awareness, prevent drowning risks and create long-term social value across Europe.”
