European Aquatics has published two bulletins introducing the first edition of the Artistic Swimming Coaches Course Level 1, split into theoretical and practical components as part of the organisation’s continued investment in coaching education.
The theoretical component is delivered online via the European Aquatics Academy Educational Platform. It forms the foundation of the course and must be completed before any in-person practical element. Coaches can register directly through the academy’s website.
A dedicated practical session will take place in Samorin, Slovakia, from 3 to 5 November 2026, hosted at the X-Bionic Sphere. For that session, registration for the theoretical element must be completed before attending in person. Registration follows a two-step process, with coaches first compleing the clinic form, then completeing the payment through the Academy’s platform.
Coaches wishing to take part must have completed compulsory education, provide evidence of being able to swim, submit a motivation letter, and produce a criminal record check confirming no offence incompatible with a coaching career.
The participation fee for the full course is 500 euros, split between 360 euros for the theoretical element and 140 euros for the practical element. A certificate is awarded only to those who complete both elements.
Accommodation packages are also available for the in-person segment. Each package covers four nights’ accommodation from 2 to 6 November, full board, and airport transfers, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The curriculum spans six modules: Sport Science Fundamentals (12.5 hours), Swim Safe Europe – Learn to Swim (7 hours), Introduction to Artistic Swimming (6 hours), Coaching in Artistic Swimming (10 hours), Methods and Planning in Artistic Swimming (15 hours), and Introduction to Technical and Choreographic Training (20 hours).
By the end of the course, coaches are expected to understand the scientific, historical, and regulatory foundations of artistic swimming, alongside coaching ethics, safeguarding, and long-term athlete development principles. They should also be able to plan and deliver beginner-level sessions, apply competition rules appropriate to novice and age-group levels, and support athletes through the early stages of their development.
