OPEN WATER CUP LEG 3

European Aquatics, French Swimming Federation and COCEN 26 are committed to set a benchmark for aquatics events by delivering a set of sustainable practices which aim to:

Minimise the environmental impact of the 2025 European Aquatics Events
Foster social and economic legacy for the benefit of the host local and wider community
Inspire the local and wider community to adopt healthy and active styles through the Aquatics Social Responsibility Strategy
Promote the sustainable development goals as a catalyst for sustainable development through sports;

Our organizations recognise that maintaining a clean environment and conserving water are essential for ensuring a healthy and sustainable world, which is crucial for the well-being of athletes and society. We are also aware that achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals requires significant and transformative actions to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.

We aim to make a positive contribution to the promotion of a sustainable future for aquatics, therefore all participants, team members, staff, volunteers and spectators are encouraged to support a joint ambition and commitment to sustainability by embarking on a journey to reduce their individual carbon footprint.

This Sustainability & Legacy Plan is aligned with the sustainability goals and policies of the City of Paris, France, French Swimming Federation and COCEN 26, and will be implemented with a focus on the five following key priorities:

INITIATIVES

- 2 or 3 volunteers will be dedicated to promote sustainable behaviors within different areas : competition, Media, VIP and geneal public.
- They will be in contact with the cleaning team to ensure a safe and clean area.
- We have planned to have a short introduction meeting with each stakeholder at their arrival on site to inform them about our commitments for the event.

Sustainable Fun Zone

- Working on a sustainable fun Zone to welcome the general public. There should be food trucks, animations and raise awareness area.

Eliminate the Plastic

- Bio-plastic bottles and glasses will be used for athlete’s refueling.
- We have planned to discuss with the city of Paris for implementing water fountains.

Waste Management

- Close collaboration with the different departments involved in the organisation to minimise our waste at each step and level of the organisation.

Adiccional Measures

Transport

- We have chosen an official hotel close to the competition venue. There is only a 5 min walk between hotel and the venue. It will reduce a lot our carbon footprint.

Infrastructure

- Thanks to a close collaboration with the City of Paris, we are able to reuse existent infrastructure. We will add some temporary element such a bungalow or a small stand. All these additional equipments will be rented to ensure them a second life.
