European Aquatics is delighted to announce that Coaches Clinics for High Performance Swimming will take place in Vienna in September 2024.
European Aquatics Coaches Clinics for High Performance Swimming: Strategies for Excellence in Coaching will be held at the University of Vienna in the Austrian capital on 9-10 September.
Coaches Andi Manley (UK), Rob Greenwood (ESP), Marek Polach (CZE), James Gibson (UK) and Jon Rudd (IRL) will speak on a range of topics at the two-day event which forms part of the programme for 2024.
Registration is 100 euros with European Aquatics waiving the fee for the first 50 participants of European Aquatics federation countries with a maximum of one person per federation.
The event is organised by the Austrian Swimming Federation (OSV) in cooperation with European Aquatics and supported by World Aquatics (Aqua), as well as the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports of the University of Vienna.
This new initiative follows on from the coaches clinics conducted by the Coaching and Education Commission of European Aquatics in 2023, which were set up in close cooperation with the Aqua Development Programme, but is also the first concrete action of the new European Aquatics Academy, which was approved in March as a key part of the European Aquatics Strategy 2024-2030 – (Pillar 1 (“Promoting all Aquatic Disciplines”). The success of the 2023 initiatives highlighted the need to increase the commission’s scope by:
1) addressing the needs of additional stakeholders beyond coaches, such as athletes and officials.
2) providing a more comprehensive offer catering to all aquatic disciplines.
3) making available a more diverse portfolio, including certified courses, short courses, and higher-degree programmes.
4) embracing different forms of education (online, onsite, and hybrid formats), time management (self-paced, scheduled learning) and new teaching-learning philosophies.
In effect, the Academy is taking the work of the Coaching and Education Committee a step further to address the educational needs of coaches, officials, and other stakeholders.
