European Aquatics is committed to becoming a key stakeholder in global Aquatics Social Responsibility (ASR) by aligning its initiatives with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its strategy is based on three Principles. This internship will give you the opportunity to contribute to the sustainability strategy of European Aquatics, particularly in the principle aimed at a clean environment and water saving.

European Aquatics is opening applications for an internship of 6 months to support in particular the implementation of a Carbon Footprint measurement tool and creating a carbon reduction strategy.

 

Overview

Title: Sustainability Intern

Duration: At least 6 months, starting September 1

Location: Remote or from the office in Nyon, Switzerland

 

Role summary

European Aquatics will start to measure its Carbon Footprint and develop and implement a strategy to improve sustainable practices across events and daily operations across Aquatics in Europe.

The intern will support the Aquatic Social Responsibility Officer in this project and across other sustainability initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities

Support the Aquatics Social Responsibility Officer in the implementation of the Carbon Footprint Measurement Tool, collecting data and guiding all areas of the organization to become fully abreast with the principles and aware of the environmental impact of the activities.

Assist in further developing the Aquatic Social Responsibility Program for event organizers, aimed at reducing waste, recycling and energy consumption. Researching good practices across the industry and making proposals for implementation across the Aquatics universe.

Help draft reports and updates on European Aquatics policy and progress in the Aquatic Social Responsibility Space.

 

Requirements


Education
Studying or recently graduated in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Sport Science or Sports Management


Skills
Good organizational skills

Experience in data collection, quality assessment and analysis

Understanding of carbon footprint impact and reporting

Strong oral and written communication skills in the English language


Passion
A strong personal interest in making sports, particularly Aquatics, more eco-friendly

We would love to engage a (former) Aquatics athlete in this role. While the role requires commitment and flexibility, we are willing to work around other Aquatic related engagements.

European Aquatics will pay a fair compensation for the efforts of the intern.

European Aquatics Academy Project Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: European Aquatics Development
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Part-time
WORKING HOURS: 20h / week
LOCATION: Possibility for flexible working arrangements with need to travel on regular basis to the European Aquatics HQ (Nyon, Switzerland) and across Europe
START DATE: Position to be filled as early as possible

European Aquatics is the European governing body overseeing aquatics sports (Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Artistic Swimming, Diving, High Diving, Water Polo).

Committed to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aquatic sports education in Europe, contributing to the growth and development of coaches, athletes, officials, and national federation managers.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Mobilize and coordinate a pool of experts in aquatic sports, entrepreneurs, and scholars.
  • Facilitate the development of curricula for coaches, officials, athletes, and national federation managers.
  • Coordinate the review and updating of existing educational materials into courses.
  • Liaison in the selection and training of instructors with subject matter expertise.
  • Establish a system for individuals to register for courses and certifications.
  • Prepare the logistics for onsite training, online and hybrid learning.
  • Provide insightful recommendations and advice based on data analysis.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Facilitate information-sharing sessions with stakeholders to communicate the global vision of the European Aquatics Academy.
  • Engage and mobilize stakeholders to embrace the European Aquatics Academy strategy.
  • Implement a comprehensive 360° communication plan.
  • Ensure the long-term implementation of European Aquatics Academy initiatives by European Aquatics and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reports on each action and assess progress against established KPIs.

Sport Assistant Aquatics

JOB TITLE: Sport Assistant Aquatics
REPORT TO: Sport Director Aquatics
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Aquatics Operations
WORK ARRANGEMENT: Hybrid / Remote
WORKING HOURS: Full-Time, 40hrs/ week

Job Purpose:

The Sport Assistant Aquatics will occasionally be working from the European Aquatics headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. They will be in charge of supporting the daily operations and competitions related to Aquatics.


Key responsibilities:

The position holder will contribute to the achievement of the performance targets, aims and objectives of the organisation for all Aquatics disciplines (Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Diving / High Diving, Artistic Swimming and Masters) through the following:

Liaise with member federations

Draft communications with relevant information and updates towards World Aquatics, internally, member federations and Local Organizing Committees (LOCs)

Assist in preparing bidding documents and providing relevant information for / to competition host nations

Assist in preparing events’ contracts

Assist in organizing and co-hosting meetings (in-person and online)

Assist in organizing and coordinating any necessary meetings (in-person and online), including the

relevant Technical Committees’ meetings, communications, etc.

Create, store and update European Aquatics competition documents following the organization’s

guidelines

Assist in collecting and reviewing various travel plans connected to Aquatics operations

Create and circulate reports for European Aquatics yearly planning and relevant events

Available to attend site visits

Assist in managing the European Aquatics calendar

Be actively involved in brainstorming of ideas to further develop European Aquatics strategic plan

Assist in managing the various European Aquatics events throughout the year, remotely and on-site


Ǫualifications & Experience:

University degree (Sports, Management, Marketing, etc.); Master’s degree will be considered an

asset

Relevant experience in event management and good knowledge of sport, and specifically aquatics, sport background (team or individual sport) will be considered an advantage

Fluent in oral and written English

Additional languages are an asset

Tech savvy

Graphic software and project management tools are an asset

The annual gross salary (before deduction of compulsory withholding tax and social security contributions) will be commensurate to the specific qualification of the successful candidate and payable in thirteen monthly instalments at the end of each month.
